What is Cotton Transfer Printing?

Sawgrass’ ChromaBlast™ and ChromaBlast-R™ digital cotton printing systems utilise popular desktop inkjet printers from Epson® and Ricoh®, Sawgrass ink and transfer media, and a standard heat press, to quickly produce high impact designs on a variety of cotton and poly-cotton products.

Although the application is quite simple, it’s the patented chemical process that sets ChromaBlast™ apart from any other form of digital cotton printing. As heat and pressure are applied during the production, it sets up a cross-link between the cotton, the inks and the media which transfers the image into the fibers of the garment. The result is a customised cotton or poly-cotton garment with a soft hand, vibrant colour and superior washability.

1. CREATE

Create or import your artwork using a graphic program, like CorelDRAW® or Adobe® PhotoShop®.

2. PRINT

Print your image using ChromaBlast® or ChromaBlast-R® , a standard Epson® or Ricoh® printer and high quality ChromaBlast paper.

3. PRESS

Using a standard flatbed or mug heat press, transfer the image onto a wide variety of substrates.

When Sawgrass cotton decorating inks and media are put under heat and pressure, they cross-link with cotton fibres to create a superior bond. The image that remains is a full-colour, high-quality, photographic image that will not crack, peel or wash away from the cotton garment!
